The nucleotide of a section of DNA can be determined by using DNA sequencing techniques. The base sequence determines the amino acid sequence of the resultant protein therefore the DNA tells which type of protein that gene encodes. |

| | Signals of the seasons fluttering in the wind | ] | Yo No Soy Yo
Yo no soy yo. -Juan Ramon Jimenez
I Am Not I
I am not I. I am this one walking beside me whom I do not see; whom, at times, I manage to visit, and whom, at other times, I forget. Who remains clam and silent while I talk, and forgives, gently, when I hate, who walks where I am not, who will remain standing when I die. -Translated by Robert Bly |

| | Autechre - Nil | ] | At the recommendation of a friend, I just finished watching an episode of two different animes I’d never seen before. The first was "FLCL" or something like that, and it was the first episode. The second anime was "Blue Gender" and was the seventh episode. Both had...less plot and more crazy nonsense than I usually watch, but maybe they are just similar to so many other animes in that it is not the quality of the show that matters, it's how much of it you watch.
In actuality, I think that goes for most all Television.
For example, Dragonball Z. This anime I saw about two seconds of while channel flipping some years ago and I remember mocking it relentlessly. It was just so stupid. I couldn't see how anyone could watch it. Lo-and-behold, someone later was like "Here is the first few seasons of Dragonball Z! It's really good - you should watch it!" And I reluctantly did. After a good many episodes...the characters start to grow on you, y'know? Of course, my favorite character is Prince Vegeta. He is...rather evil and murderous, but he has reformed now, which reminds me of another character from another show....
Another Example: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I recall poking fun at some friends who watched it (by the way, I apologize, you were right) because I thought it was so incredibly lame. I had seen one episode. Little did I know? Yes, yet again, the opportunity to watch the first few seasons came up, and I did. Enthralled I became, yet again.
Spawn show of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Angel. I recollect being quite adamant about not watching this show as well. "It won't have any of the cool characters," I said, "No Buffy and all the funny quips between her friends!" And so on. As you have probably assumed, the first few seasons I watched when the chance arose, and - Presto! Good show.
And, I don't remember exactly, but I didn't want to watch the anime Ranma 1/2 at first, either. Watched the first few and got hooked.
Anyhow, not so sure I’m going to continue watching FLCL or Blue Gender, but if I’ve learned anything, it's that shows I mock will automatically become good.
Or something like that. |

| | Moodswings - Seems to Remind Me (of Love) | ] | The "sweater de-fuzzer" is about the most useful thing in the world. Reasons:
1. It de-fuzzes sweaters. (The cloth is like "Muwa ha ha - I have FUZZ on me! Take that, human!" And where usually you would be defeated, this handy little de-fuzzer de-fuzzes it. That is, it takes the fuzz off of the clothing.) 2. Well, it, um. Well, I guess it just de-fuzzes sweaters. However, that is still pretty dang cool, i think. Isn't it? |

A glowing red orb appeared and illuminated the surrounding area. The orb’s shape distorted and grew, then resumed a spherical form. It looked like a portal might. Immediately I jumped in without knowing for certain or even caring to find out. “Anywhere,” I thought, “Must be better.” Or so I hoped, anyway.

| | Front Line Assembly - Stray Bullet | ] | She sat with the facade of reading. Staring blankly at the pages of words, not acknowledging them, allowing her mind to wander. When her friends asked how she was doing, and what she was doing, she’d reply, “I’m fine. Reading.” And they believed she was fine and she was reading and would carry on, not disturbing her from her thoughts.
“Good.” She thought. “I don’t want them trying to comfort me.”
She thought about what she had become, and how she had become it. Who she loved and who she did not. She thought about him. She would always think about him. She did not want her friends trying to make her feel better. Trying to make her forget. She wanted him, like he always had been, being there. Him comforting her. Him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the dark, dank basement of an old broken building, he sat in a worn leather chair that rustled under his weight whenever he shifted positions. The remains of several detached demons still lay upon the floor, painting it in various colors. The humans who were attacked had already been saved and there was nothing left for him to do here. However, he had no desire to return to his residence, where there would be people. People he had to talk to. People he had to assure he was fine to.
Some time passed, and the morning grew near. Taking in a deep, unneeded breath, he stood, picked up his black duster, and began his route back. Back to the people. Funny, he thought, that after so many years of complete solitude, aching for a person to accept him just a little, he now loathed the continual companionship. He loved his friends, he truly did. However, the perpetual company caused him to desire occasional isolation.
(Yeah, so that's some random story of random-ness I wrote. Some of you may think it could resemble a certain TV show, but that wasn't my intention. Though, I do acknowledge the similarities.) |
I am very much a bookworm - says this quiz. That is more or less accurate, but the quiz that decides your bookworminess is only several questions long (less that 10 if I recall correctly). Not that I am trying to say that these silly quizzes are all knowing and always accurate, but really now, what can anything decide in only a few questions?
Or anyone, for that matter. First impressions. People often tell themselves not to judge anyone by just one meeting, or that if you accidently embarrass yourself in front of new people they won't hold it against you forever. Now, forever is a little harsh - but it will stick for a long time. As much as we try not to, first impressions always seem to be a significant part of the way you think someone to be. Maybe we say it's not as a comfort? That way if you give the impression of not being you in some way, then you won't feel bad? The damage can be un-done. |
| | Air (french band) - Talisman | ] | So guitaring is going pretty entertainingly. I have learned a bunch of chords, though not nearly enough, and the basic basic stuff. There is numerous amounts of more complicated stuffs that i need to read up on, but i'll get there. Where ever "there" may be in the long run. I'm not going for the super rock star career, more of a "time to play on mi guitarra for a while" thing. I'd suggest to people who like music to invest a little time/money into it. It's not too difficult to learn enough to strum a small but enjoyable amount. Muchas gracias a mi hermana por la guitarra! |
